In his bestseller, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, John Gray deals with many of the kind of differences-between-the-sexes that we can quite easily observe in everyday life. There is no question about it that men and women think differently.
When I saw the above video, I just had to show it to my wife because it so perfectly illustrates the differences between our own communication styles. I don’t think this is exclusively a male/female thing. You may remember, we spoke about communication styles here. But there is unquestionable truth in the proposition because, if we didn’t recognise it, we wouldn’t laugh.
I love the illustration about the plumber i.e. that when a man asks, “what did he say?” he is not expecting to hear the entire conversation replayed. He is actually expecting to hear something like,
“Oh, he said the leak could be quite easily fixed. It would take about an hour and cost $50.”
Similarly, I like the opposite example of the birth of the baby i.e. that the woman wants to know all the details: weight, name, time of birth are all good for starters. I am going to remember this for the next time I have to report such an event. I’ll get a pen and paper and get all of that down and perhaps add a few more details for good measure - perhaps blood group, length, time since last feed and so on.
It might make for an interesting conversation.

Thanks for sharing this video - Details, Details - women love them and I am learning to remember some details and also to understand that my wife needs some details. Funny video - helps to remember!
Time last fed? That’s funny, but then again, it could make someone’s day either by making them laugh or simply because they love details details details.
