Steve Jobs Died Yesterday

In my leadership workshop, I often ask people to make a short list, maybe of five or six people that they consider to have been great leaders. We then go on to look at the characteristics that the people on their list all have in common.

Over the years, I have noticed that certain people get on those lists repeatedly. There are the more obvious ‘greats’ that might easily come to mind; people like Nelson Mandela, Gandhi and Martin Luther King. But then there are other people who also make the list consistently. One of those people is Steve Jobs; the visionary, innovator and entrepreneur behind the success of Apple.

Interestingly, nobody every puts Bill Gates in their list, but anyone who had ever heard Steve Jobs speak knows that he was someone who always aspired to excellence. Steve, passed away “peacefully” yesterday, Wednesday 6th October after losing his battle with cancer.

Here is Steve making the commencement address at Stanford in 2005:

A statement issued by Apple said that “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.”

Our heartfelt condolences go to his family.

Steve jobs was brilliant he taught how to live. He took Apple from an almost bankrupt irrelevant technology company to the most successful technology company today. He created a whole ecosystem of innovation with apps developers, revived the dying music industry by creating a completely new business model for it. GOD may rest his soul in peace.
