Looking for The Right Partners

As you will know if you have been reading my blog for any length of time, I am always trying to create genuine win-win opportunities. I make it my business to think about how I can help other people to achieve their goals in such a way that the cooperation helps me too – that’s what I mean by a win-win idea.

If you are a blogger operating within the personal development market, this particular idea could be for you. Thinking about what we are all (us bloggers, that is) trying to do, it strikes me that a small team could be much more effective than individuals operating independently.

At present, for example, our site is in the top 100,000 sites on the web according to Alexa, we get about 1.7 million visitors per year and we have about 15,000 people who receive our Newsletter.

That’s not bad going, if I do say so myself. But, I know that there are thousands of other bloggers, just like me, who are trying to do the same kind of thing, building their audience, reputation and so on and we are all operating independently. It strikes me that there is a great deal of scope for trading all kinds of things with other sites.

For sites that have a similar amount of traffic, there seems to me to be a very straightforward way of doubling your traffic, virtually overnight. You could simply cooperate on the production of a joint Newsletter. Personally, I think this is a great idea, but as I mentioned, to be workable, both sites would need to already have a similar amount of traffic.

You needn’t stop at two sites either; you could aggregate three or four blog feeds into a single Newsletter for example, in much the same way as our Newsletter (at present) aggregates my three main blogs into a single Newsletter. Just imagine the power of that – you could triple or even quadruple your traffic very easily.

The above, I believe, is a simple but effective example of how cooperation could benefit you if you are a blogger. You just need to find the right partners i.e. other blogs within your own niche that have a similar amount of traffic.

Here are some other ways you could cooperate with other bloggers:

  • Advertising
  • Traffic Exchange
  • Guest Articles
  • Social Mentions
  • Joint Ventures

You could exchange ads in quite a number of ways – within blog posts, on your home page, in your newsletter etc. You could regularly exchange articles for each other’s blogs, you could Tweet, Like and +1 each other’s stuff from time to time and you could cross-promote products and services. You would need to thrash out the details. But I am sure there would be lots of other ways that you could cooperate with the right partners. The above list is just a starting point.
