Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!
Wednesday, 2 September 2009

As a Christian life coach I'm asked often by many how they can find
out what to do with their lives. Some are even desperate because of a
prevailing need to get out of their boring jobs.

Some people know who they are from the time they're old enough to
begin school or even sooner. But it's been my experience that most
people find it so difficult to understand their purpose in the life
that by the time they get to a certain age, they give up trying to
find out entirely.

This of course is the reason there are so many people working jobs
they hate, feeling as if their lives are nothing more than placating a
difficult boss or having to put up with difficult, if not irritating,
co-workers. They walk as if drones in the twilight of morning to punch
in their time cards, making sure they're not too early, yet not too
late. They feel as a sheep, being led throughout the day by half
witted managers who instead of bringing good will and support to their
employees, they create the desire for that last time card "punch" that
will lead to the end of a long boring day.

I hope this isn't your life, and if you're a manager, of course I have
tremendous respect for your position, but I would like to challenge
your managing skills for just a moment. Did you know that you're
responsible for creating a specific work ethic? Of course you do, but
part of that ethic should include looking at each of your employees
individually and assessing their skills and personalities--seeing them
as people instead of "the people who work under you."

Each one of these amazing men and women have lives, families, beliefs,
hopes, dreams, and fears. While it's not your responsibility to keep
their personal lives on track, you can very much influence their lives
to move in a forward direction. Caring enough about your employees
can influence and impact their lives forever, as you take the time to
get to know them and their unique skills and abilities through verbal
exchange and observation.

You actually hold the key than can unlock your employees passion in
their work, unleashing their desire to grow and their confidence to
know in which direction to enhance a company product or it's ultimate
growth. When employees are organized by a caring and wise manager who
can pull together their self-expression and unique skills to
accomplish their tasks, they will become a strong team under your care
that will not only be excited to go to work in the morning, but they
will love and respect you as their boss. Whatever you need them to
do, and no matter how difficult the task, they will find a way to get
the job done, and as a bonus they will make you proud and fulfilled in
your work.

So tomorrow when you're on the job, peak out of your office and smile
at the people under your care. Give them a day that seems to go by
way too fast!
