Most people experience a general depression that is temporary, lasting only for a few days, weeks, or months, depending upon the source. For instance a situation of personal loss such as divorce or death can cause a general depression that can last for years if not dealt with. This form of depression can occur from not knowing how to deal with life on an adult level, experiencing temporary set backs, or dealing with manipulative or pushy persons who leave one feeling helpless, unworthy and frustrated. General depression should be taken seriously and steps should be taken for healing to prevent further emotional distress. There is also a clinical depression which is a serious medical illness that negatively affects how a person feels, their thought process, and their physical and mental functioning regarding daily life. For instance, clinical depression affects the body, moods, thoughts and behavior. It can change eating habits and dictate how one interacts with other people, including family. People with depression either state that they don't feel like themselves any longer, or they will say there is nothing good about life in general and they can all but give up on life enjoyment. As stated in my previous article about depression, sufferers must get help from a doctor they can trust. However, from the many situations I've witnessed, when some people only receive medical treatment, they tend to continue with medication therapies prescribed and counseling sessions without experiencing healing. For such persons, I have found the healing process begins when the patient comes to the conclusion they want to live a normal life again because they deserve to enjoy life. Once this happens, the next step of healing comes with daily doses of positive affirmations that will create changes in the thinking process, ideas, and the belief one has the ability to take control over the outcome of their lives. What is an affirmation? It's a statement of belief that is spoken or silently muttered to one's self to build faith for a need, desire, physical, mental or spiritual change. If you're a Christian, it's important to use scripture for affirmation creation, but for those of other faiths or beliefs, scripture, can be modified into general statements which will have a positive effect. What proof confirms this statement? According to Proverbs 4:10, Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many, we're told to hear God's Word with the promise that the years of our lives shall be many. This establishes that we're to make confessions of God's Word for success and a long life. Affirmations are used effectively when we practice, paraphrase and purpose to meditate upon or speak specific confessions or affirmations in a variety of ways throughout the day and night. They should be used to replace thoughts of doubt, fear, anger, helplessness, or any negative emotions cultivated within a person over their lifetime. Anyone can create an affirmation, but for those who might not know where to begin, the link just below this article will lead to affirmation instruction by means of a short audio that will teach you how to achieve relief from depression and all negative issues to attain victory.
