Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!
Thursday, 30 July 2009

It started much like any other day did. Getting up, taking a shower, getting dressed, taking my blood sugar test, eating breakfast, sitting a the computer answering emails and writing for my web site and blog but no this was no normal every day day.

Today was the day that the rest of my life was to start.

My son picked me up after he got off work about 2:45 in the afternoon. After loading me in his car we went to the club, Sam's Club that is for today was my exit interview and my last official act as an employed member of society.

We parked as close to the door as we could then my son removed my walker from the trunk of the car after which inside we went greeting those I had worked with.

Rob, one of the COSs or one of the front end supervisors called Denise our personal manager who came downstairs so I wouldn't have to climb the stairs to do my exit interview. She has always been very helpful to me when ever I had to venture into personal or the computer training room.

This day was to be no exception the interview went smoothly and profitably as I left with a check for my accrued personal and vacation days. She even held up hitting the final key giving me an opportunity to shop one last time as an employee.

Many people have many things to say about Wal Mart / Sam's club most of them bad. I however in the two years almost to the day I worked for them have found them to be the best corporate entity I have ever dealt with. While not being the company of Mr. Sam's day I believe he would still be proud to have his name associated with it.

How many companies do you know that will hire a man of 63, not many to my knowledge for I applied at many.

Not only do they hire us but when their older employees get to where they can no longer do the things they once did they find other jobs for them door folk or demo folk or similar less stressful position.

My supervisors were all as kind, supportive and helpful as I required them to be. The sunset rule was always followed where by any question would be handled before the end of the shift as well as the ten foot rule for when anyone entered a ten foot circle of us they received a smile.

My most dread thing was to hear a "Code Adam" on the loud speaker when a child went missing.

If I could no longer have my own store any longer then Sam's was a great substitute. Larry one of our night managers kept trying to get me to apply for a management position but no those days of pressure are for the young guys. I enjoyed my time and never realized how traumatic that last day would be as I said good bye to many of my friends and coworkers for the last time as a fellow employee.

Yes the doctor said no more physical labor and retired me. So now I have to look to the mental to earn my daily bread for my SSI and SS together are less than seven hundred per month but I have a secret weapon for Spirit will provide for me as it always has to the tune of how much faith I have to believe for.

To me with Spirit there is no limit to what I can earn from now on so look out Bill Gates your time as America's Wealthiest is soon coming to an end.

For I know that as much as I love and believe in YOU I love and believe in SPIRIT a thousand times more. Thank you Sam's Club and Wal Mart as we are Believers.

Blessings and happy holidays
