As many of you know I consider Spirituality a 24-7-365 event as in every
moment, breath and action is an interaction with Spirit. As I have heard it
said there is not a spot where Spirit is not.By now some of you are scratching your heads and saying where is this going
and what in the world does it have to do with Spirituality.
A lot of my life has been spent in intolerance for my fellow man or most
anyone for that matter.
As I get older and look back and see how very blessed I have been and the
many wonderful people I have had the fortune to meet.
Since my van decided it was time to be retired in October or November of
last year I have been taking the Metro Bus and Rail here in the LA area.
Yesterday I had the privilege to go to Union Station in Downtown LA which is
a trip from my house of six blocks walking to my bus stop then a 45 minute
ride to downtown Long Beach where I catch the Metro rail for the 26 or so mile
ride to the 7th street station and transfer to the red line to go three
stops to Union Station.
It is quiet an educational ride from the outside scenery to the inside.
Folks of all nationalities, cultures and religions, Black, brown, yellow, white,
name it and they were there. Languages with many different sounds were
heard.
I love to observe people. To me it is better than a trip to the zoo and
much less expensive to watch the humanity around us.
We are to remember that we are all one and put on this planet to learn to
get along with all.
In one seat was a young lady with six children. When I say young she
appeared to be under 21 years of age.
Across the aisle from me I see a gym bag and a pile of brown wool of a coat
. I assumed it all belonged to the men sitting in the seats in front of it.
When they got off and the bag remained. I began to get worried until I saw
the legs, feet and shoes extending down from this pile of wool.
Then I realized it was a lady reclining, sleeping with her head buried in
her arms which with her matching gloves I hadn't realized was a person. One
must remember the temperature was around 75 and farily warm on the train as it
was full.
Then after the two men got off a lady with an over the shoulder pet carrier
got on and took their seat.
After she set down she unzipped the top and the cutest gray long haired cat
about a year old stuck its head out with a meow to say hi to all of us and
became an instant hit as her owner proudly stroked and petted her.
Interestingly I kind of envied that kitty as it has been quiet some time
since I was stroked and petted. Oh well life is wonderful and we move on.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip out as it was the first time since my latest
life events that I had ventured out and from Union Station I made my way by
rail and bus to the VA hospital and that is story for another day.
We are blessed to have the transportation systems we have. I remember the
Ice, bread, and milk wagons of the 1940s.
Blessed, yes we are just I am blessed to know that I love you and Believe in
YOU.
