Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!
Friday, 4 July 2008

I am sitting here looking back over a journey of 65 years and a few months. The beautiful thing I know that journey still has a lots of years and miles ahead of it. I have been privileged to live and go as few have.

I have lived for three years in Libya prior to the gentleman that now rules there. I lived on the island of Crete for almost a year.

I have traveled in China for a month at the end of the twentieth century. Had the privilege to visit Switzerland six or seven times. Visit, stay and explore a German castle for almost a month. Hawaii, Mexico resorts, England, cruise the QE II fly the concord.

All of these I have done plus visit Hurst Castle and forty of the fifty states. My dream is to take a Motor home tour of our wonderful country, America.

I write this and it is the 4th of July 20008 and as I listen to the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful and others of our patriotic songs I feel first a lump in my throat and then a tear in my eye foe yes I am an emotional man and will cry if you look at me.

But there is something about being an American that just makes me proud. I served in our Military during the Sixties and far from being ashamed I am proud for my country called I answered. Right or wrong it is still my country.

I hear people say the country has to change its ways. I say the country is just fine. The people within have to change their ways.

When I was growing up when people came here they learned to be Americans. There were no this American or that American they became Americans. They remembered who they were, but they also remembered where they were.

When I was in the first Grade there were five Hispanic children, Roberto, Lazereo, Maria and for the life of me I can not remember the names of the other two children. In fact I received one of the worst spankings I ever received was for brings Roberto and Lazereo home after school to play.

Any way the point I really wanted to make is that on the first day of school these children spoke little or no English. By Christmas time they were speaking excellent English and everyone of them were making As and Bs. Roberto went on to become Robert and never missed a day of School in twelve years. He also had a straight A record everyone of those years including the first one.

I have lost track of him as I have most of those from my early years, but I still remember what outstanding people these were. They came in and assimilated into the American way of Life. I know where ever they are they are productive, prosperous and yes happy citizens.

I wonder why it is that today I have to dial a one for English on my phone. I think back to my childhood and wonder how in the world did those children do it and then the thought came to me they had to if they wanted to be Americans and they did, very much. I look around me and wonder do those that come here really want to be Americans or do they just want the American way of life?

I love every one and want only the best for all. For what I want your you is what I shall receive for myself. For us all to have the best we must be the must. What ever I want in my life I must be that first within my self.

I guess what I am attempting to say in my own way is that if we choose to be here then make it the very best it can be by being the very best we can be.
I intend to make that my intention for the day and for the rest of my life. To be the Best I can BE and so it is.

Happy 4th every one (did you realize that a 4shifted on the keyboard is $) Blessings, Rev. Isaac
