Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!
Tuesday, 15 July 2008

How many times have we heard ourselves r someone else say this? When the truth is we are constantly selling something. Ourselves, our point of view, our opinion.

When we dress up to look our best for that special some one we wish to attract into our life. How about when we put that extra something into our latest project hoping the boss will notice and give us a raise.

Sales, we do it everyday, many times a day and it started when we were just babies attempting to sell mom into picking us up t give us just a little more attention. It continued into childhood for that piece of candy or a new bike. How about that first car?

What would happen if instead of saying I'm no sales person we acknowledged that we were indeed sales people and began to sharpen our skills into being better sales people in all walks of our life.

Sales is basically psychology. Knowing how people react in different situations. Then perfecting our skills to guide them into the direction we choose for them. So, to go to achieve the end we want to benefit all concerned. A win win situation at all times. If I assist you in getting what you want then more than likely you will assist me in obtaining that which I want.

I was recently asked to write a series of articles on a commission basis, which meant laying out my work with no guarantee of compensation. I agreed to do this. Now why would I do it with no guarantee of compensation. Several reasons actually: The possibility of compensation Seeing my work published, the credibility it adds to my resume' and portfolio Showing the Universe my faith in It to reward me Just working with the editor and publisher There actually are more reasons, but I think you get the idea it isn't all about the compensation.

Sales work is the same it isn't all about the compensation. It is about how does it make me feel. Am I proud of what I have done and have accomplished? Would I do it over again if given the chance? Would I want my children to know about it? The question is not am I a sales person, but rather what am I selling and to whom? That is what I leave you with today as I ask my self that question.
