Self confidence is a terrific attribute to possess but why is it such an important trait in our personalities?

Why do people with self confidence seem to get so much further in life?

How do we acquire this truly desirable quality of self confidence?

Undoubtedly self confidence helps us tackle any task or project with a positive attitude. With a positive mentality we can be much more comfortable and relaxed when undertaking a task. Our focus is on the job with all our attention on getting things right and making the task progress forward.

Fear sets in when there is a general lack of self confidence in our ability to perform a certain job. The "what ifs" and "how do we avoids" cloud any progressive thoughts. Focussing on how not to let a project fail is negative thinking that blocks any forward thinking ideas from coming to the surface of our minds.

If we want to succeed at anything and achieve our wildest dreams we must believe in our hearts that we can live the dream.

And why not?

There are so many successful people that we see everyday, so why can't we be like them?

What makes them different from you and me?

In a nutshell, self confidence. It is these two magic words that stand between us and success. With it we will achieve; without it we will always be dreaming of a better life but not taking the steps to grab it.

There are a few people who are born with natural self confidence. Many other successful people learn to think positively using a variety of self confidence techniques.

So what are these self confidence techniques?

Some such techniques are as follows.

  • Hypnosis. Being taken into a relaxed state and given positive suggestions to build a positive belief system in our subconscious mind. This may be done by a hypnotist or via audio media recorded by a hypnotist.
  • Self Hypnosis. Much the same as hypnosis, but as suggested on the tin, the technique is performed by our self.
  • Affirmation. The repeating of positive suggestions and sentences out loud. This requires a certain amount of self discipline to routinely perform this ritual. It is also advisable to find a quiet spot so as not to incur any distractions.
  • Positive Images. Thinking about a task you are about to perform and imagining a positive result. The stronger and clearer these images can be, the easier the subconscious mind will take them on board. So many top athletes use this technique, though a lot of them will not be conscious of the fact that this is what they are doing. Others, through the help of sports psychologists, will have been taught this method. Mental imagery can be used to achieve our dreams as well. Clearly visualising our hearts desires and placing ourselves in those mental pictures will start the subconscious mind believing we will obtain our dreams.

Self confidence is an essential ingredient in achieving success. We can all have self confidence and success. It isn't just the birth right of the naturally self confident and the gifted. We will achieve by learning the not so mystical art of self confidence.

Thank you Terry. I never really thought about how self confidence really is about your whole life. I guess that I must be pretty closed minded about it all, until I started looking to create a better life. Then I noticed that self confidence plays a huge role in everyone's lives. We usually take it for granted until we start to come out of our shells and create something more for ourselves.
