Despite all the self confidence and belief you may have there are still some times when you wake up in the morning feeling low, negative and in need of being picked up. It is at times like these when you need to apply a little effort in getting back on the straight and narrow, the path of self confidence.
Having a prepared script, a vision statement, is a great way to persuade the mind back into positive thinking. A statement which emphasises all your desires, your dreams of how you want you life to be, the results you want to experience will pick you up and create that all important self motivation. By believing you are experiencing these desires now and that you are living this dream life now, your mind will very soon narrow the gap between your current experiences and your expected experiences.
Of course, so as not to wake up grumpy (leave him/her alone and get out of bed quietly), it is imperative to go to bed on a positive note, full of self confidence. Those negative thoughts, thoughts of ongoing problematic issues just sink into the subconscious mind causing restless nights with occasional bad dreams and even nightmares. It is little wonder that the following morning energy levels are low and the problems still exist, and on first awakening can seem worse. Self confidence needs to be rebuilt with that little bit of concerted mental effort to visualise your perfect world and believe that you are living in it.
When retiring for the night it helps to practice relaxation techniques to get both the mind and body into a state of ease. Think about all your successes throughout the day. Believe me you will find there are many if you dwell on it long enough. Although your day might have had more strife in it than you would have liked, thinking the positive, all that you have succeeded with will soon banish the troubles away. Thinking of your successes at the end of a day will do wonders for the self confidence.
For the Christians amongst us, reading extracts from the bible is a fantastic way to unwind before falling asleep. The bible creates such inspiration to dwell upon during those sleeping hours.
Sometimes things happen that automatically give us a lift. Here is one little moment that happened to me the other day that left me smiling all day long.
My four year old son Charlie was in our bed next to my wife Tonya whilst I was in the bathroom getting washed and shaved. He's quite keen for Tonya and I to give him a baby brother or sister and I could here him ask that awkward question that most parents dread,
"How does the baby get into Mummy's tummy?"
Tonya replied "Well, a seed grows in Mummy's tummy"
"And how does the seed get there in the first place?" was the inevitable next question.
"Ask your father" was the inevitable reply.
The bathroom door bursts open. "Daddy, how does the seed get into Mummy's tummy?" Charlie asks.
"I plant it there" I answer hoping that would be sufficient. At first it seems to be, but Tonya being in one of mischievous moods blurts out,
"Ask him how he plants it there?"
Charlie of course now looks at me and repeats the question.
"I use a special instrument" I reply trying hard to think on my feet.
Charlie trots off to his room and a minute later he returns. In one hand he has a plastic toy guitar and the other a tambourine.
"Do you mean these?" he asks in all innocence.
Now I'm feeling mischievous and say,
"If I hit the right notes I can make Mummy sing"
At that point Charlie starts singing
"We will, we will rock you"
Enough said I believe.
