Have you ever heard of the phrase "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy". Whatever you see and think, whatever you believe, will become reality. Self confidence and self belief are the magic ingredients to ensure the self fulfilling prophecy brings you incredible results.

 

If leading up to a job interview you picture a nervous wreck and can only visualise failure, this will inevitably be the outcome. Your mind and body prepares and acts for failure. There is a total lack of belief rather than a mass of self confidence.

 

Watch an Olympic High Jumper, somebody blessed with a high degree of self confidence.  See how he checks out his run up to the bar, tracing each and every step. In his mind he pictures the approach, mentally sees the jump and imagines the jubilation as he looks up to see the bar, still in its place. He rehearses this success time and time again until he is ready to turn the picture into reality. Success is sure to follow with the self confidence he has built up inside.

 

To cultivate success it is important to think success, believe success and have the self confidence to go for success.

 

But how is an attitude of failure turned into positive thinking?

 

First of all, the mind and body need to be properly prepared to accept new, positive images; images of self confidence and success. That correct state is the state of relaxed concentration. In order to prepare for the state of relaxed concentration, find a quiet space, a comfortable place where there is unlikely to be disturbance.

 

Sit or lie down and remain still.

 

Now start to imagine the toes getting heavy. Feel this heaviness slowly flowing through the feet, then the ankles, the calf muscles and slowly reaching to the knees. Focus on this heavy feeling awhile, enjoying this relaxed state in the lower part of the legs.

 

Allow this feeling of heaviness to rise through the thighs and pelvis, spreading through the stomach and back. The tension in the muscles of the back and chest ease away as that heavy feeling soothes its way through the body. The arms, forearms and hands right down to the tips of the fingers become relaxed and heavy. Notice how the breathing becomes deeper and slower. Concentrate now on the muscles of the neck, mouth and eyes allowing that heavy feeling to reach the top of the head before sinking deeper into the mind.

 

 At this point the mind will be ready to receive positive images; those positive images of success and self confidence.

 

To awaken from this state of relaxed concentration slowly count down from ten to zero. With each count notice how gradually more alert the mind becomes.

 

At first this process can take between five and ten minutes. A particularly stressful day with a lot of emotional clutter swirling about in the mind can make this technique slower but with practice a relaxed state of concentration can be created almost at will.

 

Practising the state of relaxed concentration can prove beneficial on its own without ever using it to build self confidence and self belief. Just by being relaxed can have tremendous benefits to health and can help to overcome restless sleep.

 

Creating this state of relaxed concentration allows the conscious mind to be bypassed and prepares the subconscious mind to accept positive messages of self confidence and success. As a greater positive mental attitude is the whole point of this exercise it is vital that only positive images are created with in the mind during this relaxed state of concentration. It is not the intention to be planting any negative thoughts deep into the subconscious mind, only thoughts of self belief and self confidence.
