Over the years that I have been studying the subject of self improvement, personal growth and self confidence the term Law of Attraction pops up more and more. Simply put, in the realms of the mind, we attract what we truly believe in. If positive thoughts of wealth and abundance are believed to be coming our way, if we have that self belief, then that is what we shall receive.
On the other hand, if all that we can visualise is poverty, poor health etc. then that is what we will attract.
In sport, the athletes competing at the top in their fields truly believe they belong there. They only see success and are driven to achieving success. Granted, they have to have talent in their chosen sport – not everybody can break the world record for the 100 metres sprint. But when there is nothing to choose between competing athletes at the highest level, it will be the one who has the stronger self belief, the self confidence and the greater hunger who will come out on top.
Many great business men and top celebrities have reached their pinnacle, amassed their fortunes and gained fame after many years; years where they have suffered knock backs and reported bankruptcy. Despite these, they have carried on regardless because they had the belief that they were destined for much better things. They didn't use failure as an excuse to quit. Instead they learned from their mistakes, turning them into something positive and then continued to visualise success. All this comes under the term "determination" but it is impossible to be determined without self confidence.
How the Law of Attraction works has still to be proven, but undoubtedly it does work. In the world of physics, normally opposites attract as with magnets, where it is the opposing poles that draw two magnets together. Quite often in personal relationships it is said that opposite personalities are attracted to each other and many a time this can be bourn out. How many couples do we know who seem to be as different as chalk and cheese yet together they pull on each others strengths to create a lasting relationship.
Perhaps in time it will be proven that a positive mind is one pole and success is the opposing pole. Who knows?
Building self confidence and self belief can be very difficult. Not many people are blessed with natural self confidence. For whatever reason negative thoughts and energies are more prevalent than positive thoughts yet when achieved, positive thoughts can be far more powerful. There are many self confidence techniques that can be used, and each technique can have differing results for different people. Sometimes, particularly with all the pressures and stresses that life dishes out, negative thoughts keep creeping back.
For myself, I quite often wake up in the morning with some care or other on my mind. But I start the day telling myself that I can achieve, I can follow my dreams and I can have the life that I deserve. At first this may seem hard, especially when negativity is so deeply rooted in the mind. But I have found that plenty of practice makes thinking positively become more automatic. When I do stray, I can more easily get myself back on track. |
