For many people today, the food they eat is not very healthy. Time, ignorance and attitude each play a role in why that is true.

* Time

Since we all live in such a fast-paced world today, some people will not take the time to prepare healthy meals. They also do not eat a good breakfast nor do they eat a healthy lunch.

If you are still employed it is even more important to start off the day with a healthy breakfast and then prepare something healthy for you lunch or go to a restaurant where you can get a healthy prepared lunch.

Food plays a major role in how you perform during the day. If you are not eating healthy it's not as likely you are going to perform as well in your job as you should.

Most businesses do provide lunch breaks so there is no excuse for not eating well. Eating snack food at your place of work in place of a good lunch is not the smart way to go. Even eating out at a fast food restaurant is also not a healthy choice.

Make sure you take the time to not only eat a well-balanced breakfast and lunch but also be prepared to fix a hearty meal at dinnertime also. Don't stop at a fast food restaurant or buy a processed meal at the grocery for your evening meal either.

There is no excuse to eat this way when you can prepare any meals ahead of time by either using a crockpot or preparing something in the oven that you can time it to be ready when you are ready to eat it.

If you are a family person and not preparing healthy meals you are not only jeopardizing your own health but also the health of your entire family. Then worse of all illnesses and diseases could start affecting everyone in the entire family.

* Ignorance

Another reason people don't eat and/or prepare healthy meals is because they are ignorant about what is really healthy food. Here is a quick summary of what makes convenient food items healthy or unhealthy. If it's in a box on a grocery shelf or in a frozen food section, you can bet it is not healthy.

There is some exception to frozen foods. Many frozen vegetables are usually a healthy choice but not the frozen food meals. The frozen food meals like the boxed food products are chemically treated in the initial processing to some degree to preserve and extend the life of those products.

Then even preparing food of high fat levels or sodium levels is also unhealthy too. In addition, sweets of any kind are not a healthy choice either.

It would take another whole article to explain why fast food and processed food are so unhealthy to eat. You would be shocked to learn what chemical ingredients are in these types of food products.

* Attitude

Probably the biggest reason people don't take a harder look at the food and drink they put in their body is because they don't realize the tremendous dangers of certain food products today. Their attitude towards these dangers has not made an impact on them yet.

What is really a shame is when they go to a doctor, because of some ailment; they don't get the right answers why they are sick. You see it's been proven over and over again by health specialist that eating the wrong food can cause many illnesses and diseases.

So instead of learning more about what is a healthy diet, they end up trying to solve their ailments with prescription drugs. You see the drug commercials everyday convincing you that their heart burn, indigestion and upset stomach products will solve those kind of health problem.

You would think that most intelligent people would soon get the right message why they experience ailments in so many forms. For some, the mind is easily programmed by marketing professionals who can convince you what you need to do to solve any health problem.

There is only one answer to being healthy and staying healthy and that is "take charge" of your personal health yourself. Become more educated by what is the "wrong way" and the "right way" to live a healthier and a more productive lifestyle.

Start learning "the right way" today before you are exposed to a deadly disease or a life of constant episodes of ailments in your life. Believe me it's more fun to be healthy than sick.
