Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!
Saturday, 13 December 2008

Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, director of the university of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, has issued an unprecedented warning to his faculty and staff:  Limit cell phone use because of possible risk of cancer.

His warning is based on early unpublished data, but he argues that people should take action now.  He is particularly concerned about children using cell phones.

At the heart of his concern is that we shouldn't wait for a definitive study to come out because it really is best to be safe rather than sorry later.

In a complete article he wrote, it includes a summary analysis of the recent studies that form the basis of his decision to issue precautionary measures.

He is greatly concerned especially about children using cell phones.  Although the evidence is controversial, Dr. Herberman is convinced that there are sufficient data to warrant issuing an advisory to share some precautionary advice on cell phone use.

As far as he is concerned, the signs that we're looking at is a major public health problem that is overwhelming.

There have been several comments about the safety of cell phone usage around the world.  France, Germany and India have issued recommendations to limit your exposure to electromatic fields.

Toronto's Department of Public health is now advising teenagers and young children to limit their use of cell phones to avoid health risks.

Australian Dr. VinGautam Khurana has issued information titled:  Mobile Phones and Brain Tumors after 14 months of independent research reviewing more than 100 sources of recent medical and scientific literature.

He believes if no appropriate changes are made by industry and consumers alike, in the next 5 to 10 years about the probable hazards of cell phones usage will be definitely in the medical literature.

Not only are these companies making lots of money off of cell phones, but they also do their best to misdirect you and lie to you what possible harms that are possible from their usage.

And worst of all the government agencies which are there to protect you, have also entered into mutually profitable "partnerships" with the very businesses they are suppose to regulate.  In 2007, the telecommunications industry spent almost $250 million on political lobbying.  Over the past decade, they have spent a grand total of nearly $2.4 billion.

Folks, let me tell you, there are no agencies out there protecting you from these dangers.  The FDA, the EPA and the FCC are all somewhat responsible for protecting you.  Don't hold your breath that they will however because you would die before they do anything.

What's more, after the dot-com crash of the late (70's, many technology companies who had purchased the wavelengths found themselves strapped for cash.  They owed money to the FCC, and no longer had any way to pay it.  So the FCC cut a deal:  they took a small percentage of the owed money as a down payment.  Then they agreed to collect the rest as the cell phone companies earned money from consumers.

So basically the FCC becomes a mortgage holder for the mobile phone industry.  The FCC now has a vested interest in the rapid deployment of technology and built up of the industry.  That way they can collect the rest of their money.  You can bet they are not going to block anything the industry wants.

However despite all these obstacles, the truth is spreading because outspoken heroes in the medicine community are evidence of that.  The more doctors that speak out the more people will be convinced.  Each individual should make family, friends and colleagues aware of these hazards too.

In the meantime, you should take steps to protect yourself.  Getting rid of your cell phone altogether can help.  However if you don't choose to do that, you can still minimize your exposure and reduce your risks by limiting the amount of time you spend on your cell phone.

You know what is really interesting what happens in America when some new technology is discovered?  We sometimes abuse it by spending more time using it then are necessary.   We even neglect and ignore everyone around us.  That not only goes for cell phones but also for all kinds of electronic devices.

Whatever happened to good ole conversations, reading a good book or listening to audio programs for increasing our knowledge in valuable ways to live a better life?

To your good health
