It only takes a few additional portions of broccoli each week to protect men from prostrate cancer. A substance in the broccoli sparks hundreds of genetic changes, activating some genes that fight cancer and switching off others that fuel tumors.

Prostrate cancer kills more men than any other cancer except lung cancer. Each year 680,000 men worldwide are diagnosed with the disease and about 220,000 will die from it.

The benefit derived from broccoli would likely be available from some other cruciferous vegetables that contain isothiocyanate, including brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, arugula, watercress and horseradish.

The power of food in normalizing chronic disease and helping others to achieve optimal health is one of my passions. I became very much interested in nutrition and alternative methods for curing illnesses about four years ago.

Since then I have become highly knowledgeable of alternative methods to manage your health and I share that information with everyone who is interested in listening or reading what I have found.

I have been amazed how much nature provides us for managing our health. Eating a variety of vegetables and fruits every day is a smart choice for defending yourself against all kinds of illnesses and diseases.

Studies have revealed that men who consume more than one portion of cruciferous vegetables per week are at a lower risk of prostrate cancer. In one study the participants ate four extra servings of broccoli per week for one year and achieved some remarkable cancer fighting capabilities.

These beneficial changes over the course of this study were verified by collecting tissue over the course of the study.

While foods, especially vegetables, are a much smarter choice to treat serious health problems like cancer is better than using drugs; all foods may not be the right choice for you. Even though vegetables are one of the healthiest food categories on earth, not all vegetables are beneficial for everyone.

The best way to understand specifically what foods are ideal for your body is to learn your nutritional type. When you eat properly for your particular type, you will experience increased daily energy, improved emotional well being, a feeling of satiety and satisfaction, optimized health and weight so you live longer.

Some additional guidelines to help avoid and treat prostrate cancer as well as breast or any cancer are:

* Optimize your vitamin D levels with appropriate sun exposure.

* Control your insulin levels. Make sure you limit your intake of processed food.

* Get appropriate exercise.

* Get appropriate amount of animal based Omega-3 fats such as fish oil.

* IP6 (phytic acid) is a powerful tool to lower high iron levels.

* Selenium – 400 mg per day.

* Consume freshly ground flaxseeds – 2 ounces every other day.

* Vitamin E – 400 units per day.

* Consume fresh vegetable juice daily

* Eliminate sugar as much as possible.

* Eat broccoli or cauliflower sprouts.

* Eliminate or at least try to manage stress.

* Get enough high quality sleep.

* Reduce your exposure to environmental toxins and sources of heavy metal.

* Boil, poach or stem your foods, rather then frying or charbroiling them.

Being healthy and staying healthy is not that difficult. Your body was designed as a smooth running machine. It's more intricate in design than any other machine in the entire universe.

But what do many of us do to it? People abuse it every day by feeding it the wrong food and drinks, take prescription drugs, smoke cigarettes, create stress and do many things that are harmful to your body.

The only way to stop this nonsense way of living in to take personal charge of your health by adopting the proper measures to keep your engine finely tuned.
