Are Superfoods really capable of creating a healthier lifestyle? You bet they can! You might not believe the endless list of Superfoods. They are food that are commonly known to you too. Here's one superfood that is at the top of the list. This popular saying identifies it to everyone. Remember - "An apple a day keeps the doctor away?"
Now it may not keep the doctor away completely, but it sure is a great defense against illnesses and diseases of all kinds. It's interesting to know how much the peel in itself is the most valuable part of the apple. It's been associated with decreasing risk of Type II diabetes.
It's amazing how readily available nature's medicine is to us. Yet we don't take advantages of all of it like we should. Here's just a few more of them and what they can contribute to your health.
* Avocados - Has more soluble fiber, the best fiber for lowering cholesterol - than any other fruit.
* Blueberries - Combines more powerful disease fighting antioxidants than any other fruit or vegetable. This is just one of the many benefits it provides.
* Broccoli - One of it's greatest benefits is it boosts the immune system. It also lowers the incidence of cataracts, supports cardiovascular health and builds bones. The list of the many benefits this remarkable vegetable provides is lengthy.
* Chocolate - Would you believe this one is on the list of Superfoods? Yes it should be because it's greatest benefits is it helps to lower blood pressure. A pilot study also found that subjects who drank a cup of high-flavored cocoa had an increased flow of blood to the brain that averaged 33 percent.
The best way to get chocolate into your life is to eat a square or two daily. Now don't eat no more than that amount daily. And 72% cocoa in a bar is the best to eat.
* Garlic - Has the power to fight cancer and cardiovascular disease as well as having anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties too.
* Oranges - We usually know them as the most recognized source of vitamin C. But they also have the power to support heart health and prevent cancer, diabetes and a host of chronic ailments as well as the fighting common colds.
* Spinach - Overwhelming research has revealed a healthy relationship between spinach consumption and cardiovascular disease, including stroke and coronary artery disease, many forms of cancers including colon, prostrate and breast cancer.
The list of beneficial superfoods goes on and on but I've only listed six of them here. These are just some of the ones most commonly known to everyone.
It's really a shame the nation's population doesn't realize the grossly unhealthy food they are putting in their body. Many individuals are destroying their entire body little by little by the food they eat daily. They either don't realize what they are doing is harming their body drastically or they don't really care about it. Instant gratification seems to be the only thing they care about.
Have we forgot about the nutritious food that we ate years and years ago? Remember the nutritious food grandma use to cook? Those meals were prepared from food usually grown in the garden or purchased from a farmers market. Even the meat we ate was mostly the kind razed and slaughtered by a local farmer.
This meat was not injected with harmful antibiotics and hormones either. Even the fish we ate at that time usually came from unpolluted waters too. Now while all meals grandma prepared were not always totally healthy they were one hundred times better for us than most meals prepared today.
Modern technology makes it so much easier for preparing a meal today than ever. Crockpot cooking and time settings on stoves and ovens to start the cooking before you get home. (No microwave cooking please. It's definitely not healthy) If you really knew the harmful chemicals and preservatives that are used in processed food and fast food today you would be totally shocked.
So what is the answer for creating and maintaining a healthy body? It's not too complicated. But without being too detailed in my recommendations here is about as simple as I can make it.
* Start shopping for your food in a health food store or an organic grocery. (Yes it's a little more expensive but it sure is cheaper than having a major disease or operation).
* Shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables in a farmers market is even better. (Of course different seasons control this)
* Get recommendations on what kind of nutritional supplements are best for you and start taking them. (If your local doctor is nutritionally educated he or she will know what to recommend - if not find a reputable privately-owned vitamin store owner who can help you make the right decision.
* Decide on some kind of daily exercise program you will adhere to. Just walking or biking for several minutes a day is ideal. During inclement weather there are simple indoor exercise programs that are available. Remember this - simple exercise is better than no exercise at all.
If you don't take supreme care of your body now where else will you live? This is your primary domain. Take care of it before it becomes run down and about to collapse from any illnesses or diseases you may contact. It's more fun being healthy. Why not try it and see for yourself how great a feeling it can be for you. |
