Each person reacts to
stress in a different way. Some can handle a lot without exerting too much effort, while others run away at the slightest hint of stress. Even with a variety of factors in the amount we handle, or the chain of events that we face each day, only one thing is for certain. When you leave stress alone, it will eat you alive.
We encounter stress all the time. We encounter stress wherever we go. It is not only the hard times that cause us stress. Things that bring us joy and happiness is also considered stress. Getting married, for instance, is something that can cause great stress for both the man and woman involved. This goes the same for moving, public speaking, or welcoming a new member of the family. This goes to show how much stress we encounter in our lives.
Stress often leads to burnout. This is especially true in the workplace. Learning how to manage stress helps us improve our outlook and response to the stressors that come our way. Sadly, only a few people practice it. This is because the fast-paced life that we live. We do not think that we have enough time for engaging in exercises to relieve us of stress. This could not be more wrong. Oftentimes, we just don't take the time for it. And besides, stress management doesn't only involve exercises.
If you feel that you don't have time for yoga, or jogging, or aerobics, or whatever, it doesn't mean you can never relax. It just means you need to approach stress in a different way. Changing the way you think when handling stressful situations can actually yield positive results. Staying on the positive side of things can help you manage stress before it even starts affecting you. Just do the best you can and move on.
Prioritizing is another example, if you experiencing stress because you are always caught up in your work it may just be because you have not outlined your priorities well. If this is the case, try getting an organizer so that you will be able clearly see how much you will need to handle each day. This will also prevent you from over committing which is maybe the reason why you are overworked.
Next, learn to understand Murphy's Law. Whatever can go wrong will probably go wrong. When something goes wrong and we are caught off guard, we are instantly put into the "fight or flight" state. We should understand that plans designed to be perfect tend to end up imperfect. Learn to understand that there will always be surprises in your life. This will serve as your emotional and mental padding for stress.
Basically, these examples do not require one to find a particular place to do it. The will and power to be aware of your actions and most especially take note of your thoughts is one very good means to fight stress.
