Good health, wealth and happiness are the key elements of a good life. Fitness involves regular exercise and a balanced nutritious diet. Regular diet and exercise is indispensable for a good life for any individual as it can keep ominous health conditions at bay.

Exercise is a necessity when you want to maintain a healthy and good life. Working your muscles has no direct bearing to your age. Staying physically fit is the goal and you can opt for exercises well suited to your body type and age. Exercise is undoubtedly beneficial for you, regardless your age.

Studies indicate that poor health in senior citizens is almost always associated with a poor lifestyle. Sedentary habits with almost no physical exercise coupled with an inadequate diet often lead to physical weakness which again is an open invitation for various diseases. Good life can be restored and the weak physical condition completely reversed with the aid of regular exercises and a nutritous and balanced diet.

Benefits of regular exercise are plenty but the most important benefits of a regular work out is protection against chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, osteoporosis and heart disease.

Regular work out can help to maintain or restore balance and agility which are often taken for granted but it is a serious problem particularly among older people. With increasing age our sense of balance deteriorates and muscles lose their firmness which leads to weakness and unsteadiness and contributes to mis-steps that can cause injury or major accidents. It thus becomes absolutely essential to adopt an exercise routine that can restore agility and balance and help avoid injury from falls and mis-steps.

Apart from improving the physical condition of our body, it also helps in improving the mental state. It can calm the stressed nerves and elevate the depressed mind. You can actually feel lighter after exercise session and this is the essence of a good life. The difference can be felt even more if you had been living a wayward life so far and then have suddenly switches to a restricted and disciplined lifestyle. When you work out daily, a chemical called endorphin is released from the brain. This is called good mood hormone that keeps you mood lighter and happier. Besides, after a complete exercise session you feel a sense of ?I did it? which undoubtedly works on lifting up your spirit.

Now coming to food habit, it needs special mention that without a balanced diet, healthy body is impossible to get. Your daily meal should contain balanced proportions of protein, vitamin, fats, fibers etc that are required for good health, hence good life.

The food pyramid can prove to be an effective guide if you are perplexed about the kind of food that you require. According to the guidelines, you need to have large servings of green vegetables and carbohydrates. Almost all basic food stuff like bread, cereals and pasta are carbohydrates. Intake of diary products, meat, sea food, eggs and nuts need to be moderate if you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You also need to be cautious about consuming fats, oils and sweetmeat. Eat them sparingly and you will be able to have a good life. Restricting saturated fats, cholesterol together with salt and sugar is a good idea. There is no point in sticking to a boring and repetitive diet. Eating different kinds of food will help you to stay healthy and have a good life.

Eating a wide variety of food is absolutely vital as it helps to meet our body?s requirements of vitamins, other essential minerals help your way to a good life. Apart from exercise and food, adequate sleep and rest are also important to enjoy a good life as they are good rejuvenators.
