Sometimes I learn life lessons from the most unusual places. How about you? Just this week I realized how much our pets can teach us if we just let them. Maxie, my wonderfully sweet little mutt, has taught me how to live life better in several ways.
Live life with enthusiasm! No one can mistake the enthusiasm Maxie has. She's a little thing, only 12 pounds of golden furry goodness, but she lives life large. Whether she's chasing a squirrel in the backyard or dancing around for a treat, she puts her whole heart into whatever she's doing. She reminds me to put my whole heart into my own endeavors.
Live life in the present! Maxie is nowhere if not in the here and now. She always lives in the present, never worries about the past or future. She reminds me that worry doesn't help, that what I have right now is what's most important, that I shouldn't let this moment pass without enjoying it.
Live life with love! Maxie loves everyone she meets. And she doesn't keep it a secret! When I come home at the end of the day, she shows it. When someone comes to visit, she shows it. She enjoys giving and receiving love. She reminds me how precious my relationships with others are and how I should show my love at every opportunity.
I challenge you to look for life lessons in unexpected places. You just might find some precious gems, just as I did, from a furry little canine named Maxie.
