Hello everyone! I am happy to be writing my first post for The Law of Attraction blog at White Dove Books. The goal here is to research, read and share thoughts about the law of attraction. We will be able to peek at various opinions on what the law of attraction is, if it works, how it works, and see if it will work for everyone. We can attempt to be one of the go-to source's for information on the law of attraction but ultimately each person will need to make the decisions regarding their own beliefs about this "universal law".
When I was first introduced to the methodologies currently presented in the Secret, I was just a youngster right out of high school. I had a passion for art and a passion for living life on my own terms. Back then I suppose it was perceived mostly as rebellion. It wasn't rebellion in my mind though. I really did not want the emptiness of life that seemed to be the standard of many families I observed. There was no passion, no purpose that shined through with the average person or family. Where was the joy? There wasn't any, that is the point. I don't mean that people were always crabby or mean or anything like that. It is just that everyone seemed to be like limp fish with glazed over eyes all on auto pilot just rehashing the same drudgery day after day. I didn't really know exactly what I wanted but I did know what I didn't want.
As I mentioned I had a passion for art and photography. I had been working with a local business doing some lab work and some really fun stuff with photography and decided that is what I would do for a living. After research I narrowed my choices down to Brooks Institute and the military. Well, travel and free won over waiting tables and huge tuition so, the US Navy became my new school, home and job for the next 5 years. Oddly, this is where I began to get involved with what we now call the law of attraction. That was in 1979 and I have learned a bunch since then. Much of it not through wisdom but through failure.
As I began growing and maturing in my skills as an artist and photographer my curiosity was peaked specific to excellence and top performers. From an outside perspective the technical skills I observed from high producers were all the same. The top 10 percent left the other 90 in the dust. Simple. That was work ethic and learning to be effective. What was it that separated the top 1/2% or 1% from the rest though? That is where I wanted to be and that is what really drove me to begin the study of the law of attraction.
In the next post I will examine a few things I discovered that led me down the path of utilizing some of the principles that are relevant to the law of attraction.
