Getting your baby to sleep at night can be an exhausting task. There are so many possible causes why your baby won't sleep.
It could be they are colicky, or have too much stimulation, as well as a wide array of other issues. For whatever the reason, it can be very frustrating to say the least. It is all right though, remember you are not the only parents experiencing this.
Sometimes the solution is as simple as encouraging them to settle down, relaxing them with a gentle massage, and perhaps a warm bath with soft calm lighting.
One of the reasons a baby won't sleep is that they are just too hot in their crib or bassinet. If you are hot, it's hard for you to sleep as well, and your baby is no different. Dress your baby as you would dress yourself for the conditions. The temperature in the baby's room should be around 70 degrees, too high or too low of a temperature will prevent them from getting comfortable.
Another possibility why your baby won't sleep is that something is irritating them. They just can't say "hey this sleeper itches," or "I need a diaper change," but crying is a way they will definitely let you know.
If baby's clothing or sleepwear is irritating them. It might be that you will need to change the detergent you use for washing their clothes.
At about three months your baby can start teething, this can easily become a sleeping problem. If you think this might be the case with your baby, it would probably be a good idea to see a doctor. Get a professional opinion before you try anything on your own.
One way to help your baby relax enough to settle into sleep is by playing soft music or soothing white noise, such as the sound of ocean waves, or the whisper of rainfall. This is because babies are lulled by repetitive sounds. A similar strategy would be to record yourself reading a bedtime story, and then setting it to play on a continuous loop.
Sometimes the simplest reasons are overlooked. Maybe your baby won't sleep is because he or she isn't tired. Rocking them gently or walking them around can be an enormous help to tire them out. Some parents find that a surefire solution is putting the baby into the car and driving around for a little while. The reason driving in a car is so effective is that the motor's gentle vibrations along with the motion of driving lulls the baby to sleep. About the Author:
