Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!
Tuesday, 9 September 2008

I want you know that in order to feel and look your best it's important
to understand your body, its so-called flaws and assets. And believe
me—we all have both, but I'm willing to bet that if you look closely,
you'll find more assets than those flaws that aren't real in the first
place.

I'm confident that once you understand your body type, your body shape
and its proportions you'll be able to see your silhouette in a more
favorable light. With a new positive view of your body, along with an
understanding of what looks cute on you, you'll learn all the tricks of
the trade to feel and look your best authentically--and without putting
too much time and energy into it--because, girlfriend, I know you're
busy doing all the fun things you love.

Know Your Body Type:

The Ectomorphic body type is usually tall and thin with long limbs. Like
myself and Paris Hilton. I am naturally thin; lightly built with a
relatively flat chest—with the exception of phases following the births
of my four children. Like most ectomorphs my legs are longer than my
torso. I can usually eat as much as I like without gaining weight. If I
work very hard and consistently, I am capable of building muscle and
strength. However, unlike a true ectomorph, I have good muscle tone and
fabulous shoulders. An extreme ectomorph is very fragile and delicate,
with light bones, long limbs and drooping shoulders. Many fashion models
have this body type.

The Mesomorphic or athletic body type is how I describe Serena Williams,
the great tennis champion and my daughter, Jade, an ACC volleyball
player and conference champion. Jade's body is hard and muscular, she
has broad shoulders, her chest is medium to large and she, like most
mesomorphic body types is extremely strong. Unlike the typical long
torso of the true mesomorph, Jade has a short torso. It is relatively
easy for the mesomorph to gain muscle mass when training. However, if
you have this body type, keep in mind that it may be difficult to lose
weight unless you've discovered a fun power sport to take up as a hobby.

The Endomorphic body type is how I describe Raven Symoné, Queen Latifah.
They are more heavily boned, rounded in appearance, especially around
the abdominal area. This body type puts on weight easily in the form of
fat and has to work very hard to lose it. Endomorphs' legs are usually
shorter than their torsos and they tend to have fuller bosoms than
average. If your body type is endomorphic be careful with dieting; the
more you diet the more your metabolism slows down—resisting weight
loss.

Darling, knowing your body type helps you to embrace your authenticity
and to accept who you are. Also, knowing your body type helps you to
determine the best wellness program to adopt as you grow into the
beautiful woman you already are. Love your body, darling; and watch what
you'll get in return.
