We've all been hearing about the Law of Attraction. Its everywhere. From the dozens of books that have been written about it to the internet to the mainstream media, its being touted. But what exactly does it mean? And, why is it so hard to really understand IT practically? My first real resonation with the term happenend when I saw, "The Secret." I had actually listened to the audio book first and then sat down with my popcorn to watch the movie. There infact was instant recognition of truth as I sat and listened and then watched. The problem is that while we are all "built" to recognize truth, we are also "engineered and programmed" to discount it when it dosen't hold true to our safe and familiar paradigms. There is absolutely no wonder why there is such a controversy around such an empowering principle. And, hearing the media's reaction to this movie when it first came out made me very aware of just how even the most educated individuals can be so driven and so controlled by fear, insecurity and doubt. But, there is a deeper dynamic here. Its not just about semantics and opposing philosphies being debated. The reactions to this seemingly benign movie run a gamut from, "its just hype" to the all out venomous mud slinging towards the gurus who have brought the Law of Attraction into mainstream thinking. This seems to reveal that there is a shift in both our personal and collective paradigms that is leaving some floundering in limbo. It's all about adapt or semi-die. Of course, I mean this only in the metaphorical sense. In other words, in order for us to fit into the scheme of today's world and to succeed, we are now needing to be more flexible even with our own beliefs. The world is changing at breakneck speed, information is assimilated so much faster than it ever has, time is speeding up it seems at an exponential rate. And yet, we are still determined to remain inflexible, refusing to accept change when change is the only thing that stays constant. We have the one generation that was raised during the depression, who taught their beliefs of lack and scarcity to their children and even their grandchildren. And, now we have seemingly leapt to a generation who were born with a natural inclination to know the truth about believing in a birthright of entitlement. Even those that went without in their childhood still have that sense of entitlement, still have the attitude of belonging here and deserving all that they want out of life. But, there was no middle ground here. We didn't ease into this shift. It's as if it just happened over night. That's probably why to some they seem so spoiled and in need of serious discipline. I always hear about the decline of the family unit. But, it seems to me that our children are smarter today than we were at their age. They are developing faster and learning at an accelerated rate. Is this such a bad thing? Or, is it that we just need to play catch up? Why is that so many people are so willing to peg these new human beings as spoiled brats when they are just acting naturally to what they know deep inside to be true? My point here is that all of this is a direct correlation to the immense paradigm shift that is happening on this planet today. For some of us, it's been a painful shift. For others, not so much but still there has been a disconnect in some way that has caused problematic relationships, increased job or career changes, financial difficulties, etc. And, then for some, there is an inability to relate to everyday life, situations, people, jobs, even the most mundane aspects such as paying bills, etc. They are constantly wondering where they fit or if they fit at all. And, let me tell you this can be quite frustrating. But, still this shift is not the end of the world, but perhaps the beginning of a new one. The Law of Attraction is here to stay people. And, as the future generations come and go, this principle or Law will become more organic in the psyche. We can either adapt and become apart of this awesome shift or cling to the outdated beliefs that have kept us from embracing and actualizing the best that we were created to be. Embrace the shift, I think it would behoove us all to open our minds to the possibility that it could actually be a more empowering way to "Be". And, While you see so many seemingly "enlightened" individuals defaulting back to this old paradigm in times of stress, we are all being giving wakeup calls to this tendency. Through knowing ourselves and finding and living from our own center of power, we can begin to live more organically ourselves in relationship to this shift. True power comes from within. When we focus on the external in order to make our decisions, take action or create our desires, we run the risk of being sucked into this outdated paradigm that is still being clung to by so many. We are all innately "knowing" when it comes to our own evolution. But, being stuck in outdated and antiquated beliefs systems is akin to putting the old oil filter back on after you've given your car an oil change. And, here if we can begin to realize that the beliefs we have held onto, like an old piece of wood in a violent turbulous ocean, are not cutting it, then maybe we have a fighting chance of waking up to an easier more fluid way of living.
