Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!

Have you ever wanted something so badly, but because of all the other players involved, it just seemed that the more you wanted it the more elusive it became. That carrot was just tormenting you and your frustration seemed to become reflected in those who were starting to represent the devil and the faustian deals made at the cost of your soul. Okay, I'm getting a little melodramtic here, but it does overstate the obvious when it comes to having faith and trusting the process. Having to share that control with others can sometimes be the hardest thing to do.

Think back and remember collaborations in your life where you had to relinquish the reigns to someone else. Was it easy? Did you do it naturally? Or, was it akin to having a tooth drilled without any sedation or novocaine? Are you a controller? In the business world, there is a position where someone is in charge of controlling and overseeing the cashflow within and organization. This individual's main job is making sure the numbers add up and that the money stays or goes where it needs to. This is the controller.

So, okay this person is very valuable and quite necessary in an organization with hundreds of employees. They usually work from spreadsheets and graphs and connect the dots. They have the responsibility and control of the corporation's finances from beginning to end. Likewise, they also have the most liability when something dosen't add up. So, this means they quickly come to embody the traits necessary in effectively managing and controlling an organization's cashflow, in and out. Because of this, they have to be quite effective micromanagers and in effect are the middle man between the lower echelon and upper management. They tend to have type A personalities, are compulsive perfectionists out of neccessity, and very rarely can work as a team player as they are usually governing the team players in some way, shape or form.

When it comes to life, look around you. You probably know someone who embodies these traits naturally or you embody them yourself. It's the spouse, friend or family member who has to be involved in every detail of family get togethers, evening outings, vacations, even family finances and private business dealings and joint ventures amongst friends. They are not comfortable when they do not have their fingers in every pie. The problem here is that while these individuals are necessary in a corporated setting, on a personal level when you are constantly trying to micromanage every detail of life, you run the risk of shutting down the natural flow that creates harmony. Yes, in a huge organization, where there are multiple departments each with a hundred employees this is necessary. But, on a personal level, it becomes a liability and oftentimes a crutch.

Let's take the analogy of an orchestra performing their latest synphony. Within this creative "family", you don't have the struggle to establish a pecking order. Every individual is a like a cell in the body of the whole. Even the conductor, with his baton, is only a part of the creative process and he knows it. He understands instinctively that without his musicians he has no synphony. He trusts that all his players know how and when to play the notes that creates a beautiful masterpiece. He infact, while his job is to keep time, knows its his performers that actually create the end result. This also applies to the universe and the part we play as well. Consider if you will, the implication of this. We send out our intentions and usually these intentions involve others, the fellow players in our own synphony if you will. The Universe, being the conductor, takes care of the timing. All we have to do is "play" our part and have the faith that everyone is on the same page and able to "play" theirs.

Remember, we always attract into our lives those which most likely mirror us. So, if something is not working out as fast as we would like or we are not drawing the result we intended, we need to ask ourselves how are we "effecting" this result. Once we can figure out the answer to that question, then we can make adjustments in our thoughts, feelings and actions. And, again you have to take in consideration that when the outcome relies on many different variables, especially other people, you have many different "timetables" coming into play. Here is where faith and patience are crucial, because now there is the added responsibility of the collective intention, cause and effect. Keep in mind here that while you are only apart of whatever joint venture, you still have great power in as much as how much faith you are willing to "invest."

Until Next Time,
