Inspiration - Personal Development at its Best!
Friday, 13 March 2009

So, we see that reality is complex.  The only way that we can really know our own is to study it in depth.  There are many contexts in the development of our reality.  There is no hard and fast theory that can sum it up for us, because there are too many variables.

We have to strive to understand what it means to us.  Are we coordinated?  Would we be good at sports?  Is athletics something that we like and could be good at if we worked at it?  Or do we just like to play at something like tennis as a hobby?  Something for fun.  Are we adaptable?  Can we handle the multi-tasking that a job in business would require of us?  Do we know ourselves well enough to stand our ground to manage our time and business to the best of our ability?  Can we be happy for ourselves when we get up, hit the ground with a skip and take our day in stride as it unfolds before us?  Some people can job hop around and not be bothered by it at all.  Some people can't imagine doing anything differently at all.  Are you productive?  Can you produce on demand and meet deadlines?  Are these things something that you think that you could work at and eventually do well?  Do you have the patience that it would take to grow and move up in your work?  Are you willing to network and learn to get to where you want to be?  Or does that idea make you want to run for the hills?  Maybe you need to be cautious and take a step forward, then one back, to see how the forward move affected you.  Eventually you will find where you fit in in all of this, if you just try to.

Your life becomes so much more "REAL" and happy when you're doing what you know you were meant to do.  Surprisingly enough, less than a fourth of us are happy with our work.  Some of us are happy with the field that we went into, but not with the workplace that we are in.  That can lead to indifference and to us just "going through the motions" in a job that we really do like, we just aren't happy where we're doing it, and who we're doing it with.  We can pull ourselves up out of that.  We can find the excitement again in our work, if we make the effort.  We can focus on who we're doing this work for, not who sets policy at our workplace, or who we have to work with.  If you know that you are knowledgeable and skillful at your work, then no one else's opinion should matter.  There is always going to be someone who doesn't like you, or someone who isn't going to like what you're doing or the way that you do it.

Remember the child who lives inside of you who wanted to do _______.  Give them that joy of fulfilling their dream even if it's just a class one night a week, or singing in the church choir.  At one point in your life, you were who you were meant to be.  Remember your happiest year in life, go back there and bring it forward to now.

Find your happiness and live it!  Only you can do that for yourself.  A coach or therapist can give you guidance if you need help, but ultimately, it's you who are responsible for your own happiness.  It's your reality, make it what you want it to be!

Until next blog!
