When things begin to fall out of sync, have you noticed how everything else
starts to collapse around you? How often have you heard people say that you
need to maintain your Work-Life Balance? But what does this actually mean to
you? Do you spend hours commuting to and from work each day, then have every
ounce of energy taken out of you as you deal with the trials and
tribulations of your day, returning home to the kids, your partner, your
flatmates or even an empty house... Do you feel that you are returning home
to a place of sanctuary or do you constantly wish that you could get away
from it all, at least just for a little while? It is important to take time out to relax each day. Everyone needs a bit of
"Me Time" - It may be that you can take half an hour to have a relaxing
bath, creating a harmonious setting as you listen to your favourite music...
It could be that the only peace you have is for a few minutes when you close
your bathroom door.
If you work in a stressful environment, take a couple of minutes each hour
to gather your thoughts. Whenever you spend a lot of time at a computer,
stand up and go for a walk around the office or your home - even if you only
go to grab a drink, this will give you a break. You could simply stand up
and look out of the window, into the distance.
When working with others who put demands on your time, do you always allow
yourself to time to focus or do you find that you are often rushing around
trying to beat challenging deadlines?
Stop. Isn't now the time to restore perfect balance and harmony to your
life?
The good news is that making small changes now easily helps to create the
life you are dreaming of. However the fundamentals of balancing your world
start from within. To gain a true Work-Life Balance, you also need to
balance your mind and your body.
When you think about it, you will realise that everything you do in your
life relies on balance. When you walk, every step you take is actually a
balancing act. If your body falls out of balance, walking becomes more
difficult, and everything else in your life may start to suffer as a result
of this.
If your muscles fall out of balance, then your bones will also fall out of
balance. This is often the time when you may start to feel niggles or pain
in joints and muscles.
Take a moment now to think about the flag pole again. Every bone in your
body can be represented by the flag pole and every muscle can be represented
by the guy ropes. If your muscles are not balanced then they will start to
pull your bones out of position. If your bones are not in the correct
position, this can affect your joints, sometimes causing pan and discomfort
throughout your day. This can then affect your daily routine.
So the first rule of balance has got to be to balance your muscles, to help
your bones or your skeleton return to its correct natural position. This
will help your body to move more effectively. By now you will already have
learnt how to set "Perfect Posture" so you are ready to move on.
The next stage is to literally challenge your balance. How well do you
balance on one leg? Is it easier on one side than the other? Can you brush
your teeth while balancing on one leg - and keep your legs perfectly still
throughout? Can you brush your teeth with either hand or do you always use
your predominant hand?
This is simply the beginning - This is your chance to discover more about
the way your body works and how you can easily improve your health from
within.
