How To Train Your Willpower

 How To Train Your Willpower

I was lifting weights at the gym one ordinary Saturday morning. Since I was doing the last set of ten and I’m not exactly Arnold Schwarzenegger, my hands were shaking violently from muscle tension. A little voice in the back of my head kept nagging “It’s really enough for today. Let go… Relax…You already look fit enough to me” Again my will was battling my laziness. And then it hit me like an apple hit the top of Einstein’s head. Only in my case it was a steel stick that was about to land on my face. :)

The idea I’ve got was “What if we could train willpower just as we train our muscle?”

My mind was racing. I was so exited; I haven’t noticed how I lifted my weight ten more times.

I raced home and did a huge research online. What I found out were just tiny bits and pieces here and there. So the information I’m about to share with you is unique and have never been presented like that before. You are the first people I’m sharing it with.

You cannot achieve any goal without having a willpower. It is the only thing that will assure that you will stick to your goal. I can guarantee that you wouldn't even hear the names like Bill Gates, Tiger Woods, and Lance Armstrong if these people didn't have willpower. In this report we will be talking about willpower directed to ourselves. It is basically self-discipline.

You know how you supposed to write down your goal on a piece of paper, than decide on the plan of action (on the little steps that will lead you to your goal). It always looks very easy on paper, but when we begin to translate our plans into daily life, we sometimes find we cannot overcome our daily routine and old habits.

We miserably fail because we lack willpower or self-control. You use self-control in the morning when you roll out of you warm, comfortable bed and go to take a shower even though you’d rather sleep for another hour.

In this case you get up because it’s your duty. You realize that if you don’t, you will not make any money that day or even will be fired. That’s a pretty powerful motivation even for the laziest people, don’t you think? :)

You family’s well-being depends on it, but when you get to the simple things like exercising or devoting more time towards achieving your goal you feel like you can always use more self-discipline.

This is why I wrote this report. It is for people who want to achieve more, know that they deserve more, but it is hard for them to stay on track, because they constantly get distracted by unimportant things. Frankly speaking about 98% of the world’s population can use some willpower exercise. Yes, it can be done!

You CAN exercise willpower the same way you exercise your muscles (a little bit at a time gradually increasing intensity of your workout). The important thing is to do it every day until you form a new habit. Habits don’t require self-control energy. Once exercise becomes part of your routine you can operate on autopilot. Funny thing is that soon you won’t need any self-control to exercise your willpower. Isn’t that great? :)
