Today you had too much stuff on your mind and...

 Today you had too much stuff on your mind and completely forgot to go to the hardware store to buy that hook. Then a week later your wife buys that hook for you, but, sorry, you have to do grocery shopping (after all food is more important than some stupid mirror).

You can't procrastinate forever. Try to find internal motivation in that task. What is in it for you?

* You'll get it off your mind

* You'll get your wife's gratitude

* You'll have a nice mirror hanging in your hall, where you can take a final look at yourself before going out.

* You'll prove to yourself that you can do anything you'll put your mind to. You are the best!!!

But if even after listing all the reasons you still can’t find the internal motivation, just hire someone to do it for you or ask your neighbour to help you.

3. The job is a waste of time.

You can't find no internal motivation and see no benefit for you to do the job. On preference scale from 1 to 10 you would rate this job as minus 3. Ask yourself a question "What will happen to me if I don't do it?" Do you get any internal motivation? No? In this case you can just get out of this job. This will be YOUR definitive decision not to do it and accept the consequences (if any). You may come to realize that, this kind of decision costs you a lot less time, money and stress, than does the passive resistance of procrastination.

Technique #4: How To Reduce Stress When Planning Your Schedule

One thing you absolutely have to know when planning your day is to build flexibility in your schedule. Not only your friends and family depend on it, by doing it you will eliminate most of the stress out of your life.

Life always provides us with little twists and turns. You can’t control everything. If you are living in city with the population more than 5,000 you WILL be stuck in traffic.

If you make an appointment, somebody's definitely will be running late and keeping you waiting. You don’t have any control of it but you can control your “waiting” time. For the inevitable times when you must wait, you can make your to-do list for the next day, sort mail, go over your schedule, or complete small but necessary tasks.

Technique #5: How to Prioritise Your Daily Tasks

Let me share another time management principle that most of the people just don’t know or simply ignore. This knowledge can change completely the way you are making your schedule and planning your day.

Learn the difference between the urgent and important tasks.

Urgent tasks are short-term consequences while important ones are long-term and goal-related. You should always try to eliminate urgent tasks as soon as possible and dedicate most of your time for your important tasks. They should become your priority.

For example your health is important, isn’t it? We all realize that it is, that we need to take care of our body, keep it in good shape and take care of your energy levels. But this is what most of us think, “I know I need to exercise regularly. I absolutely will. Just not right now. Right now I have a running late for the stupid department meeting, which I hate so much. Ok, starting next week I’ll go to the gym”. And so it goes on and on…
