We considered how, if God were characterised by absolute truth,...
We considered how, if God were characterised by absolute truth, a necessary requirement without which reason would flounder, he might be logically discerned. From a logical consideration alone, we concluded that such a God would need to be approached directly. The conclusion agrees with the biblical prescription, ‘you shall find him when you search for him with all of your heart and soul127’. However, we also noted that the subject transcends the boundaries of a strict, logical analysis. The existence of God, and the nature of truth, could never be discerned via logic; but only through direct revelation, should such a God exist. We considered what changes might result within the individual, as the consequence of a genuine change in the system of core beliefs; and noted a further correspondence between psychology and the Bible. Faith, we concluded provides us with a vital key to the successful prosecution of the process of living life. It is ultimately our central beliefs which are largely responsible for diverse areas of human affairs; such as our physical and mental health, and spiritual well-being. We speculated on the question of why such a process appeared to be in-built into the human condition. Finally, from a consideration of the Genesis account of the creation, we concluded that there was a good deal of common ground shared between scientific observation and the biblical view. The integration of these apparently different viewpoints provides the necessary interference pattern which permits us to access the wider, and more complete picture. Such a synergy is exactly the result we would expect if The Elephant Proposition were to be in any way representative of the truth. We considered why input from non-scientific areas of human experience, such as the arts, may be key to the processes of spiritual enrichment and revelation. We considered the powerful link which exists between beauty and natural law. We established that mathematicians and physicists alike have instinctively recognised and persistently utilised this link as an unfailing guide to discovery of the truth. We have noted the correspondence between scientifically observed beauty, in the physical reality of the universe, and biblical descriptions of the beauty displayed within creation. We considered the data stored within the heavens. Information written in a universal language, according to the psalmist, which has already revealed to scientists much of the truth concerning our origins. We have considered many biblical texts as we have progressed our meditation; and we have reflected upon the high degree of correspondence between the Bible and scientific observations. The Bible includes its own reason for this correspondence: it says that scripture is inspired128 by the one and only God; who existed before time began; who is characterised by love, truth and holiness; and by whom all things have been made129. If the Bible really is inspired by the divine creator of the universe, this level of accuracy is to be expected. Only through the agency of a creator God who wishes to communicate his message to mankind, can a truly objective view, a view from outside our system, become finally accessible.
