 Improving Yourself

Improving Yourself
by White Dove Books

As kids we learnt lessons and soon forgot the pain that some of these lessons gave us. But other lessons were harder to learn. We didn't understand what we had done wrong. We didn't understand what the problem was and it remains with us today. The hardest problems to solve are those which we don't understand.

* How can we change when we don't really know what is wrong?

* How can we change when we are not sure what needs to be changed?

Wouldn't it be great to be able to know what the problem is and then be able to deal with it and make all the changes needed? The biggest problem we as adults have is that we don't want to get hurt. We know what pain and hurt is and we try to avoid that at all costs, but we end up feeling even more pain and hurt than dealing with situations would give us.

Let's pretend that we are kids back at the park, and ready to jump off the roundabout. But now we are on a roundabout of life and as adults it is going too fast. Yet we can jump off at any time we chose. Yes we will get hurt; it will be painful dealing with different situations that we need to deal with. But like that time in the park, the pain and bruises soon disappear, so these painful memories and hurts will also disappear.

One thing as adults we forget is that we are already battle scarred from the life we have lived. We forget that we encounter painful situations everyday. It has become normal to feel the way we do, we have accepted the prognosis of those other people that we are useless and nothing can change.

You might be thinking it is too hard to open yourself up to the wounds you have encountered over many years. You might think about the pain you have felt time and time again, but look at the other side of the coin for a moment. Yes the pain will be hard, you will need to deal with it, but once you have there is joy waiting for you. Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Think about that for a moment. You are already sad, miserable or depressed. You can't see the sunny side of life. You feel worthless, useless or whatever term you want to use. By opening yourself up to what lies ahead, you will cause tears, but once they have been shed then there will be joy, happiness and laughter. Isn't it worth taking the risk? Isn't it worth seeing what could be waiting for you?

Chapter Two

Maybe you were brought up with; children should be seen and not heard. That is a hard one to get passed, but you can get past it when you apply some time and effort into the problem.

Let's look at how this has affected you. You have been taught that you should silent. What does that mean in reality?
