Many people would scoff at the idea that your life has a specific purpose; perhaps you are one such person. If so, I would like you to open your mind to the possibility that you have indeed been placed right here, on the planet, to achieve something important with your life. Yes – that’s your life we’re talking about.
When it comes to defining what we want out of life, many people actually struggle to say what it is. And in the absence of such a definition, they get on with what they think life is about: they get into the business of earning a crust – making a living; however you might like to put it. All the time hoping that one day, they will generate enough of a cash surplus to allow themselves the freedom to begin to do what they really want later in life.
You know, that’s really putting the cart before the horse; and it’s the consequence of not considering the most important questions first:
• What am I here to achieve with my life? • What can I contribute to society? • How can I best serve others? • What would I love to do with my time if money were no object? • What is the most important to me in this life?
Spend time, as much as it takes, answering these questions and you will be well on the way to discovering your life purpose. What I like to call The Deepest Desire of your Heart is your life work; your calling; or your vocation.
