In the 8th Habit, Stephen Covey uses the example of 'Micro-Credit' to illustrate what he means by the term 'Knowledge-Worker'.
If you have never heard of micro-credit, it is a way of offering unsecured loans to the poorest of the poor as a means of allowing them to work their way out of poverty - a truly inspiring idea that was first proposed by Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank.
Covey says that 'real' banks simply would not lend money to these extremely poor people because they did not believe they would be able to pay back, but with his new movement, Muhammad Yunus has shown that this assumption was entirely faulty - and he believes it may be a way of completely eradicating poverty.
Take a look here ...
This solution is really thinking outside the box and it reminds me of something that Einstein once said ...
"You can't solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that created it."
In helping so many people to work their way out of misery and poverty, Muhammad Yunus is an excellent example of someone who is actually using the 8th Habit, which is: Find Your Voice and Inspire Others to Find Theirs.
I hope it inspires you too! |
